Welcome to The Classical BRIT Awards with NS&I dedicated website.
We are delighted to be celebrating our 11th year in 2010 and exist to honour the best in the world of classical music and Britain’s place at its creative heart. Classical music has never been more popular and anyone who doubts it should consider the ways in which millions worldwide now hear classics of all kinds. Digital downloads are zapping across continents with live performances crossing boundaries and attracting capacity audiences to concert halls and opera houses around the world.
The Classical BRITs 2010 will celebrate the extraordinary wealth of artists and repertoire promoted by its UK recorded industry; honouring the previous years’ success stories along with showcasing some unique performances to an ITV1 audience. The evening is a very special one and please do have a click through the photos on this site to see actually who has collected one of the coveted gongs along with the remarkable performances that have been achieved.
The ingredients to make such a successful show are simple:
> Have the perfect sponsor - NS&I - in place. This will be their seventh year of partnership with the BRITs
> Add media partner - Classic FM - there is no better association for the Classical BRITs
> The auspicious surroundings of the Royal Albert Hall. Home to the Classical BRITs since its inception in 2000.
> 7 to 8 performances from million pound selling artists who are challenged to command the BRITs stage with a unique set and staging. Compliment this with the London Chamber Orchestra who are internationally acclaimed for their brilliant musicianship.
> 7 or up to 8 BRIT Award trophies presented to Classical artists who have been nominated and subsequently won the coveted BRIT gong.
> Add Lifetime Achievement into this mix to truly get a memorable performance and worthy recipient.
Broadcast all this on ITV1 - the only terrestrial broadcaster that understands and appreciates all BRIT Awards events.
And jackpot....you have an Award ceremony that has loyal viewers and attendees. Since its inception, the Classical BRITs ambition has been to bridge that gap of individuals who want to either learn more about Classical music or just develop their curiosity or knowledge further than what they fleetingly hear on a radio or TV advert.
Our challenge for website viewers - is to keep you fully informed and up to speed with all the latest announcements as when they are revealed. The first key date is obviously the Nominations Launch on Monday 12th April and the second is Main show date on Thursday 13th May at The Royal Albert Hall.
